My work examines the emergence of self models in intelligent systems and whether they could contribute to misalignment.
This work grows from a longer obsession with consciousness and the nature of the self, explored through neuroscience, philosophy, and Buddhist thought.
I see my life as indebted to the beings whose lives made the present possible, responsible for those living now, and accountable to those who will inherit what we build.
Outside of work, I'm an amateur Muay Thai fighter, poker player and occasional salsa dancer.
